
Tom Gschwind

Tom Gschwind began his career with the Town of Cornwall in 2017 as the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. In April 2020, he was appointed Superintendent of both the Highway and Sanitation Departments, and in 2021, the Town added Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds back to his title.
Tom is responsible for maintaining 88 lane miles of town roads, 10 miles of sidewalks, and 24 lane miles of county roads during winter months. He also oversees all town parks, playgrounds, pools, buildings, and the collection of garbage, recycling, and yard waste for Cornwall’s 13,000 residents. He leads a dedicated team of 23 full-time employees, including 11 in the Highway Department, 9 in Sanitation, and 3 in Buildings and Grounds.
Since September 2023, Tom has served as President of the Orange County Highway Superintendents Association, following two years as Vice President.
Born in Delaware County and raised in Sidney Center, NY, Tom has been married to his wife, Meagan, since 2016. They have two young children, Marlee (6) and Gavin (2). An avid hunter, Tom particularly enjoys archery season and is an active member of the Black Rock Fish & Game Club, where he participates in the archery league. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and tackling his never-ending "honey-do" list.
